Also known as the Ceriman or Mexican Breadfruit, the Monstera is one the hardiest houseplant you can find. It is a vine categorised under the genus Monstera and native to Mexico and Central America. Whether it is placed indoor or outside on your balcony, this climbing evergreen perennial will thrive. It are desired for its unique perforated leaves and very thick stems. When grown outside, the plant bears fruits which are edible and delicious ( hence the name monsters deliciosa).
Everywhere, the plants are well recognised for their sculptural foliage structure although the leaves do not begin to split until they are very mature. What is most loved about the plant is the impressive climbing character. The large holes of the foliage are what gives it the name Swiss Cheese. If you want to give your living room a bold statement, then attach a fishing line or pole close to the plant and watch it climb around for balance.
