The plant is native to Guatemala and Southern Mexico. Very unfussy, they are adamant and will survive even in the most unfavourable conditions. They look best in living rooms and offices either hanged as part of a string garden or placed on a tray. Their easy care feature and slow growth makes them a great gift for non-gardeners. The parlour palm is also an efficient air purifier.

- Planting environment: Grow the parlour palm as an indoor ornamental plant, especially areas where guests are entertained.
- Sunlight: The plant likes to be placed in low light with some exposure to the morning sun.
- Watering/Soaking: Soak the moss ball 3/4th in water for 5 minutes once in two weeks or when the soil feels dry. It is often safer to underwater the plant than getting it soggy.
